I have been able to work with students from different grades including middle school, high school, undergraduate and graduate. It has been five years since I have started aiding others in their academic journey and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I implement several teaching strategies that cater to the student in terms of their need for visual, audio or kinesthetic cues. Ultimately, the goal is to make the student self sufficient so that they will no longer need me in the future. I want them to learn the “why” of a problem as opposed to just understanding the “how” portion. In this way, they will not just thrive answering questions but also do extremely well when facing a challenging exam. I have been trained through the Supplemental Intructor program and have been a mentor to other instructors as well. This experience has allowed me to have both a tutor and administration mindset to ensure that I have a multitude of study techniques for any student who needs help!
As a student, I was never the smartest. In order to keep up with other students I had to work harder and find study habits and tricks to match those who had the highest grades in my class. I thoroughly enjoy the strengths of my students and helping them cultivate a love for their skills and confidence in what they can accomplish!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to first understand what a student enjoys in terms of school and what are their challenges in studying. Through their I check their understanding in order to give the student an active role in their learning. It is through ownership that a student is able to truly grow.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's of science in Public Health, finishing my doctorate in Physical Therapy, as well being trained as Tutor, Supplemental Intructor as well as a Supplemental Intructor mentor.
