Hello! My name is Darius Shahab, and I have over nine years of tutoring experience in various subjects, including ESL, math, writing, and Spanish. I tutor students of all ages and grade levels. I have always been interested in helping students achieve their academic goals, as this is a truly rewarding opportunity for me. I strive to create a fun learning environment while staying focused and engaged on the topic at hand. Although interest in a particular subject may not be there for students, my goal is for them to find meaning in their academic endeavors. By reviewing and assisting with their coursework, including preparing for upcoming exams, I encourage students to provide feedback on how they feel they are progressing and emphasize the fact that we are a team. Oftentimes, I want students to set their own agenda for each lesson, as long as I am sure that we stay on track and both of us feel comfortable that quality learning is being achieved in the lesson. I believe that persistence and perseverance are crucial in allowing students to build confidence and recognize their abilities as students. It is important to keep sight of the bigger picture, which is to learn and develop a good work ethic and study habits. Together, my students and I will remain dedicated to working diligently while alleviating the stress and pressure they may feel as students.

I tailor my lessons to address the student's specific needs, desires, and learning style. During sessions, I review the student's work by familiarizing myself with the specifics of the material and answering any questions or concerns they may have, allowing the students to feel comfortable in the learning environment.
