I am a California Credentialed Teacher. I am also a Veteran Teacher, well known for not only academic success with students, but the trusting relationships I establish with my students.
I have taught in two school districts throughout my career; one, Pittsburg Unified School District (PUSD), which I retired from after thirty(30) years of service. Recently in 2018, I took employment with Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). I am certified to work with English Language Learners (ELL) and am considered a Highly Qualified Instructor.
My experiences are as a Consultant, Substitute Teacher(long-term and short-term). I have taught English Language Arts; History and Social Science; Math and Pre-Algebra.
I do not have employees because I prefer to be responsible for myself only; maybe an idea to be considered in the future.
I do have a deep passion for teaching, which I believe is God's special gift to me. I strive to engage students so they want to learn and will strive for excellence. My success speaks for itself with "Teacher of the Year" awards twice.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want my students to feel comfortable while working in me, as well as know that I will assist them in understanding the subject matter; ultimately ending in their success.
We will then need to find out what is it they need from me and what is their weaknesses?
After finding out what it is they need, depending on the student I will create a learning plan for him/her.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a California Highly Qualified Secondary Teacher. I have taught and engaged middle school and high school students since 1981.
Besides teaching English and Social Studies, I have also taught Mathematics, Algebra and as a Special Education Teacher.
Not related to education, I have also worked as a Correctional Officer for the California Departof Corrections and as a Probation Officer for Martinez's Juvenile Hall.
All of my experiences have made me the educator and person I am today. I am grateful for this.
How did you get started teaching?
My only deviation is:
$60/week, if only once a week, or
$50/ session if we meet more than once a week.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with Adult Students, high schoolers, middle schoolers. K-5, and pre-schoolers. I also spent eleven years teaching as a Soecial Education Teacher.
