Hello!! My name is Katie. Thank you for considering me to be your new Science tutor!! Science is something I am so incredibly passionate about. I graduated from California State Univeristy, Fullerton with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with a concentration in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Although science is my strong suit, I completely understand why some people may have their own struggles with the subject. I am currently a substitute teacher in the Apple Valley Unified School District. I work with kids from age 5-17 helping them achieve their educational goals. One of the things I love most about being in a classroom is bringing to light how amazing science truly is and sharing my passion for the subject with younger minds.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I really believe that building a relationship with the student is important. I have a really easy going and flexible personality. Next, I try to gauge their ability to comprehend the material that they are presented by encouraging discussion about the topic of study.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been tutoring kids in Math and Science since I was in high school. I am now a substitute teacher in Apple Valley Unified School district.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with kids ages 5-17 of all ability levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you are comfortable around that person. Hire someone that supports you and encourages you to reach your goals.
