About

I have a passion for teaching and I'm able to develop a strong relationship with my students enabling them to communicate where they struggle or where they need more rigor in order to ensure each student's success.

I love to teach students in many different subjects and see their strengths emerge.

I have 25 years of tutoring and teaching experience in science and math and language arts from preschool to adult.

Frequently asked questions

Initially I get to know the student and then am a fun brain teaser to engage the student. Then an academic assessment and a conversation regarding strengths and struggles of the subject matter. Then I'll make sure to present the material in a way the student can learn and understand. Of course, this varies for each student.

I have a B.S. in Microbiology from UC Davis, 25 years of private tutoring experience, and am currently teaching Integrated 1 and 2, Algebra1,  Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-calculus, Calculus, English, Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics, and Chess.

I charge $55 - $65 per hour.

I owned a teaching supply store for many years and tutored students at the store. I've always enjoyed sharing my academic knowledge with students with different needs and abilities

I have worked with students from pre-K through adult. I have worked with children with severe mental as well as physical disabilities as well as incredibly advanced students needing more rigor than their traditional school is able to provide.

I was working with a student who struggles in math and has severe test anxiety due to traumas. We worked through some problems and then I gave him a few for practice;in fact, I gave him a test but said they were just practice problems. To my delight he aced the problems. Only then did I tell him it was a test. It's important to teach these kids and assess them without shaming anyone or trying to create tricky or confusing tests.

Find someone you are comfortable working with. Someone who will patiently show you another way to learn if the first go around isn't sinking in for you.

How do I learn?  By what method and in what setting?
