About

My service stands out because based on my education and experience, I am up to date on the current elementary school standards. I am both familiar with the Common Core ELA and Common Core Math standards. I also work with a variety of different students on a daily basis.

What I enjoy most about the work I do is helping students achieve their goals. My outlook at the school site is to support the whole child, which means making sure that not only are their academic needs met, but also their social and emotional needs as well. My favorite part about working with the students is supporting those in need to help them get to a point where they are thriving. Even with students who aren't need direct need, I enjoy seeing them get excited about their learning and proud of themselves when they get that "aha! I get it" moment.

Frequently asked questions

My first step is to connect with the parent and see what their concerns are. Are they looking for a tutor to assist them with their homework and give them the one-on-one help? Are they looking for assistance with projects? Or are they looking for general improvement and support?

My process for working with a new student who needs general support is to first get an initial assessment so I can see where the student struggles. I will look at their assessment and plan tutoring based on the needs of the students and the grade level standards.

I completed my Bachelor's Degree at UC Santa Barbara. Upon graduating, I proceeded to get involved working in the Vallejo City Unified School District, where I taught 2nd Grade. Currently, I am working in Academic Support, where I work with students who need academic and behavior support. I am currently completing my program where I will end with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, along with a Master's in Education with an emphasis in Social Emotional Learning.

My sessions are 60 minutes long, and are $50 per lesson. If the parent and student do not want a 60 minute lesson, then the cost will be prorated for the amount of time that they are requesting.

After completing my undergraduate degree, I began working in the Vallejo City Unified School Disctrict. Here, I realized my passion for working with students and supporting their educational goals.

I have taught second grade students. I have also done math intervention for fourth grade students and have other experiences working with students grades 1-5th.

With the younger students, it is important for them to have an understanding about what helps them learn. In elementary school, they might not have figured this out yet. However, as they get older, it is important for a student to know their preferred learning strategy. This could be with the use of manipulatives, auditory questions, drawing pictures, etc.
