About
We specialize in teaching bright students who struggle to learn to read, write, spell and do math in school. We use hands on, multi-sensory techniques for students from 1st grade to adulthood.
Many of our students move up 1-2 grade levels in just a few months, after making NO progress in school because they are FINALLY being taught they way they can understand!
I enjoy helping a student who has struggled in school, usually for many years, learn to read, write, spell or really understand math concepts for the first time because I know personally as a Dyslexic adult and as the mother of 3 children who learn diiferently how liberating it is to read like the other kids.
It is even more rewarding for me to watch my students physique change while observing improvement in their self-esteem, for one student it happened after just 1 day of tutoring. Today he is recieving straight A's in school!
A few years back, I had an 18 year old student, who started with me only reading on a 3rd grade and did not know how to add or subtract, let alone do any multiplication. After 19 months of working together, she was reading on a 9th grade reading level and able to do math up to pre-algebra. Made me feel amazing! Imagine how she feels now!!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With Lexia Learenrs it is as easy as 1-2-3
1. Phone call or email conversation with parent (or another caring and concerned adult) to discuss child's needs.
2. Schedule student screening to determine if our program will help your child. We will also assess your child's phonological strength and weaknesses, reading level and provide us with necessary information of placement for your child, as well as a consultation after the screening.
3. Start tutoring and make amazing progress like never before!!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My experience is extensive. It all began, unknowingly, when I was a child learning to read and spell. I didn't even know than that would be the foundation of being able to relate to my struggleing studetns over 30 years later.
I have since been educated as a preschool and elementary school teacher, and most improtantly, been certified to help students who have difficvulty reading, spelling and doing math, usually due to Dyslexia, Dysgraphia or Dyscalculia.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our rates vary based on experience from $45 - $95/50 minute session.
How did you get started teaching?
Two of my four children were struggling in school, so I learned how to help them. A few mom's were seeing the amazing progress they were making and ask me to help their kids, the same way and twice, in 2 different states, my business was born.
What types of students have you worked with?
Most of our students are between 8-12, however we work with students as young as age 7, going into 1st grade and the oldest student we have helped is almost age 50.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A second grader, that recently starting wotking with us, said in 1 week of tutoring her reading is already improving in school!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you or your child is bright but struggling in school, the most important thing you need to make sure your new tutor does is use an Orton-Gillingham program.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I am happy to provide anyone, student or not, with a list of accomadations to ask teachers to follow.
