About
Hi my name is Aliana, I’m an Ivy League graduate with 5+ years of tutoring experience. I attended the University of Pennsylvania for my BA in International Relations and French Studies and University College London for my Master’s degree in Political Science.
I began tutoring English, Literature, History, Spanish, and French while in graduate school in London. I mostly worked with high school students, including some who were undertaking a US-focused curriculum. I worked with my students to align their skillset with what was demanded from them by their curriculum. I did my best to make each lesson accessible and approachable by tailoring our sessions to each student’s needs.
I also prepared students to take the ACT and SAT. I worked with students who planned to attend a US university and helped them devise a study schedule and plan. Based on my skillset, most of my students requested help with the Reading and Writing test sections. I also tutored Math to a lesser extent. I did my best to bolster not just my students’ test preparation but also their confidence. As such, many of my former students gained admission to their number one choice of school and felt prepared to undertake a new and challenging curriculum as a university student.
What I love most about tutoring is the ability to help a student truly understand something that they have been struggling with. I hope my passion for the arts, particularly English and History, come across in each lesson. I create a lesson plan for each session tailored to the individual student and I work carefully to best accommodate their needs. I pay close attention to how a student best learns and shape my lessons accordingly. I tutor one-on-one, largely remote, so each student has my full attention. I typically work with high school students but have had former clients in middle school and in university.
