I have just begun to tutor for history. When my students are able to grasp a concept and then apply it to their homework, classwork, or tests. I have taken 4 AP Tests (US History, European History, Human Geography, and Art History) and passed them all with 4 and 5's. By keeping a structured plan and focusing in on key subjects, a student will be able to pass their class and/or AP test. In fact it is very possible for a student to just be able to take and pass the AP test and not take the actual class. This is what I was able to do for my AP US History test. While I am not planning to major in any history related subjects, it is my passion and I enjoy teaching it to others.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process would be to find out what area the student would need help on. That could be a specific subject or question or a more general way of studying a concept. It also could just involve helping the student to move through a chapter or helping them study for a test. Once a problem is identified, then I will help the student come to a correct conclusion and make sure that they are able to explain the answer on their own.
