About
Welcome to the page! My name is Matt, and I teach in a manner that is a product of my experience. I have a wild autodidactic streak, which means that I have to be in touch with the way that I learn; more importantly, this has helped me understand that everyone learns a different way. If you allow me to help you on your journey, I will start by helping you find the way that you learn best, and then model all future lessons off of that paradigm. I have experience in many different areas, and will use all of it in any way I can to help you learn.
Things I have done that I can teach you to do:
- Completed an IB & AP-filled, rigourous highschool career with flying colors
- Completed advanced academic essays and reasearch projects for the IB Diploma
- Played principal roles in productions of "The Addams Family", "RENT", "The Secret Garden", and "Mamma Mia!"
- Played principal chair in award-winning competetive classical and jazz ensembles
- Completed Web Scrapers, Discord Bots, Geometric Algorithms, Web Apps, and more
- Familiar with Html, CSS, JavaScript, and Python (even MORE familiar with the process that comes with learning these languages, including syntactic comprehension and logical analysis)
When we're faced with something we don't understand, it's scary. I get it. I've been there a lot, and I've frequently wished that someone could explain the concept that I didn't understand in terms that I could grasp easily. If you allow it, it would be my priviledge to be that person for you. So bring me your trials and tribulations -- we'll conquer them together!
I find a certain joy in helping others; in addition to that, you're allowing me to implement one of my favorite learning techniques, the Feynman technique! By helping you understand your intellectual pursuits, I can learn a little something every day (which waters the metaphorical houseplant that is my mind).

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Technique is everything. How do YOU learn? Standing? Sitting? Moving? Listening to pirate-themed heavy metal? I try to work with the unique mind of each student I encounter, and related information and give suggestions that allows them to take advantage of their learning style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a college student, having recently completed a terribly difficult highschool career. If your class is hard, I can guarantee I took something that demanded as much from me. So I get it, and I get what teachers are looking for from IB and AP to CP.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do -- $35 for one 60-minute skype call. I accept tips in the form of compliments, virtual high-fives, and money.
How did you get started teaching?
I really discovered my knack for this when my peers would ask me for help with concepts they didn't understand. I discovered that I could effectively communicate ideas and techniques in a manner they could comprehend and implement.
