Mathematics Tutoring
About
I received my BS degree in Applied Mathematics and Aerospace Engineering from University of California Irvine and MS degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics from California Institute of Technology. My work as a teaching assistant, tutor and lecturer during my graduate studies at both institutions helped me discover my passion for teaching and helping students to develop a strong foundation in and appreciation of mathematics.
For the past 5 years I have been working as a part time mathematics professor at several colleges in the area, primarily Palomar College in San Marcos and LaSierra University in Riverside. I have taught a variety of college level courses, from Pre-Algebra to Vector Calculus and Differential Equations, which have helped me develop teaching strategies that accommodate the diverse learning styles and preparedness levels of my students. Diversifying tools and methodology during
lecture is extremely helpful, but the college curriculum can be very dense and some students need some extra personalized assistance in order to achieve success. Tutoring can provide exactly that and I have been actively working with students 1-on-1 and in small groups in order to help them catch up, get comfortable with the college level teaching styles and succeed not just in their current, but also future mathematics studies.
I am always excited to start working with new students, so do not hesitate to contact me.
My teaching and tutoring work continues to be one of the most enjoyable parts of my life, I take great pleasure not only in helping my students learn, understand the material better and get better grades, but also in raising their excitement and fascination with the subject. All students are different and present various motivations in life, however the beauty of mathematics lies in its universality, its applicability to solutions of almost any problem a human brain may encounter, and as such its usefulness is to all students alike. I believe that the love and appreciation of mathematics and learning in general has a power to unite people, give them strength to set aside their differences, and work together to achieve their common goals to acquire knowledge and skill.
