About

Teaching is a pure expression of your love for another person. If you truly love a person, you want them to succeed. As such, you will expect high academic expectations of your students. The joy of tutoring is to be able to see the culmination of your love by observing the success of your students. My mission is your success.

I earned a BS and MS in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. I was enrolled in the Dartmouth Medical School M.D./Ph.D. program for two years before withdrawing in good standing to teach primary, secondary and college/university students. I was director of a $10 million education grant involved in teaching all of these levels of students for five years at the University of Southern California. I devoted the last 25 years of my career as the founder and chair of the Life Sciences Department at a community college in Los Angeles with an extremely diverse population of students. I taught non-majors biology, majors (AP) biology, anatomy and physiology. I was the #1 rated professor at the college based on rankings of RateMyProfessors.com. I have over 7,500 hours of experience teaching students in a one-on-one setting. Now in retirement, I wish to help students to grow personally, academically and intellectually. My goal is student success.

I simply like to see the smile on the face of the student when they succeed and meet their goals. It is that simple.

    Frequently asked questions

I access the current status of the student, what their goals are and develop a mutual plan on how I can assist. As we work together, we modify and adjust the tutoring to meet the student's needs. Every student has different strengths and weaknesses - we accept both as they are and seek improvement on a day-by-day and week-by-week basis.
