About
Hello! My name is Charity and I have a passion for helping students excel in school. While I would love to tutor in multiple subjects and areas, my favorite subject to tutor in is spelling. From 2nd-8th grade, I participated in 12 spelling bees ranging from the district level all the way to the national level. When I was in 7th grade in 2012, I went to the ACSI National Spelling Bee in Washington DC and won 3rd place out of 43 students. My goal is to help other students improve their spelling skills, which will in turn improve their grammar and literature skills.
Apart from tutoring in spelling, I also enjoy tutoring students in Literature, Social Sciences, and Psychology. I have a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice from San Diego State University and a Master's degree in Criminology from the University of California, Irvine, and look forward to helping students excel in the areas of psychology and social sciences.
My approach to tutoring is simple: get to know the student and their interests and apply those interests to whatever subject they would like to improve in. I believe that making learning fun is the most fundamental way to help a student succeed in any area. I also believe in allowing students to learn at their own pace and encourage them to master one concept before moving to another to ensure that they truly are learning for the sake of learning and not to get a good grade or simply pass a test.
