Evan weaves together three crucial skills: conceptual understanding of disciplinary content, strong relationship- and trust- building skills, and deep compassion for those he is mentoring/tutoring. Learning with Evan is a rigorous while also supportive and enjoyable experience.

Frequently asked questions

Set up a call to talk through what exactly the student needs and wants.  From there, I share more about who I am and the skills I offer.   If it's a good fit, we schedule a first session at 20% off!

I received a Certificate in Education from Wesleyan University in Connecticut.  As an undergrad, I developed and implimented creative writing curriculum that explored social justice issues through modern day poetry & pros.

I served as a Senior Interviewer for Wesleyan's admissions, interviewing high school students who applied to the University.

Upon graduation, I worked full time creating course content for the music therapy department of a local juvenile detention center.  I then recieved a grant from the Patricelli Center for Social Entrepeneurship to move to Chicago and work for Circles & Ciphers.  Circles & Ciphers is a restorative justice organization led by and for young people impacted by violence.  I began as their first full time employee and left managing a team of 11, coordinating a national consultancy which rendered services to Harvard and Yale, and having octoopled the organizations budget.

Standard rates: $60/hr.
First Session: $48/hr.

I began at age 14, working as a summer employee at Turn 2 Us, an educational organization founded by Derek Jeter that seeks to support elementary school students in Washington Heights battling mental health problems.

From there I fell in love with supporting the growth and engagement of young people!

- Elementary school students for 5 years
(Turn 2 Us, NYC)

- Middle school students for 9 years
(Green Street Art Center, CT; Circles & Ciphers, IL)

- Teenaers, 14-24yo, for 6 years
(Circles & Ciphers, IL)

I've spent a minimum of 20 hours per week in 1-on-1 educational settings for the last 9 years.  Whether at Wesleyan University working with neighborhood schools or in Chicago offering educational services to middle school and teenage students.

College Essay Writing: An instructor should be able to send you their own college essay.  Reading it, you should be so engaged you can't put it down.

Math: an instructor should not only be able to do math, but have mastered the art of teaching.  The two are quite different!

Spoken Word Poetry: an instructor should send you footage of their work and have competed in at least 1 national competition!
