Point Hills Education
About
Greetings! I graduated from Wesleyan University with a major in Education Studies and Economics. I have a deep passion for teaching and helping others grow. I work as a private education consultant, tutoring students for tests like the SAT, ISEE, SSAT, and HSPT in addition to teaching Spanish, Reading, Writing, and Math for grades 1st - 9th. I would describe myself as a very friendly, kind, energetic, and patient educator. I love meeting new people and aiding in their personal and academic growth. In my free time, I enjoy running (currently training for a marathon), reading, yoga, and gardening.
Working with kids and young adults is a very rewarding experience and one that has motivated me to make this my full time career. I am very dedicated to the people I work with and really care about their success and development.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1. Free 30 minute consultation to get to know your family's goals, best teaching practices, student personality, and set next steps.
2. Based on the goals you share, I handcraft a personalized lesson plan that will get us to the finish line.
3. First session begins with some rapport building and a set agenda for the session.
4. We proceed with the agenda. At the end of session, on a case by case basis, I do assign homework to ensure student is practicing and reinforcing new concepts learned outside of session. Consistency and practice are key to making efficient progress toward our goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
At Wesleyan University, I double majored in Economics and Education Studies, with a minor in East Asian Studies. I've been tutoring one on one since my high school years. After college, I worked for a private education consultancy firm supporting students in the private school admissions test prep (HSPT, SSAT,ISEE,PWS, SAT) and teaching Spanish, reading, writing, and math for 1st - 9th grade. Having one year worth of experience under my belt and loving the process of teaching, I've chosen to become independent from he firm and begin my own private education consultancy. I've successfully worked with many students in the Los Angeles area and have made teaching and leading the younger generation my full career.

How did you get started teaching?
After taking a few Education Studies courses at Wesleyan, I found a love for helping others in their academic and linguistic pursuits. I really enjoy working with kids and young adults as they work toward their academic goals. Seeing them succeed is my biggest inspiration. As a result, I pursued a private education consultancy profession and dedicate my success to my commitment for growth, knowledge, and passion.
