Language Arts Tutoring
About
Hi, my name is Catherine and I am currently a high school junior taking AP Language and Composition, a top 1% performing Language Arts student in a highly competitive high school, and tutor for "Writing Lab" at school that is a very selective program that helps other students improve their essays and writing skills. My teaching method is very "hands on" and personalized to each individual student. I have worked a lot 1 on 1 with many high school level students in my school giving them feedback on their essays and helping them improve their grades, so I am very used to adjusting my advice and teaching to meet with each individuals needs. I am here to help out elementary/middle school students who are struggling with/need extra help with their Language Arts skills which include but are not limited to essay writing in all different styles, vocabulary, analysis etc.
I enjoy the work I do because not only does it allow for me to broaden my experiences, but it also allows me to work 1 on 1 with many talented students. This sort of connection is extremely special and an amazing gift that I get to work with these students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The typical process for working with a new student is that I start by figuring out what the student needs help on. Maybe they are struggling with their writing skills or maybe moved from a different country and need help learning English. After we address the issue, I will find ways to help each student in their own unique way since every student is different and each student thrives best with different teaching methods. This may include working with them on their essays for school, practicing writing and spelling for an upcoming quiz, or even having basic conversations to improve speaking skills in a more fluent and native tone.
