Pre K- 6th Grade Tutoring - Hannah Sanders

About

My main goal as a tutor is to connect with my students on a personal level and help them gain confidence in any areas of academics that they need support in. Along with tutoring, this includes successful study habits, study guides, test reviews, and an improvement in test scores and overall grades. My areas of expertise are English (phonics, vocabulary, writing, reading), Science (biology, earth and space, life, physical, environmental, chemistry), History, Art, and Math (pre-algebra, algebra, basic math). I have 2 years of formal experience tutoring students from pre-kinder to 6th grade and am currently a full-time student attending UCSB studying Environmental Studies with a minor in education.

Work Experience: I work as a teaching aid at Monroe Elementary in SB for Kindergarten students and at the Orfalea Children's Center at UCSB. I also work for the Kids in Nature Program through UCSB to create science lesson plans for 5th graders at Adelante Charter School & Isla Vista Elementary School regarding the environment and natural systems. My previous experiences include working as a Nature Educator for the SB Botanic Garden. I hosted groups of students on science explorations that complement their science standards in class. I also volunteered for Sprout up, a tutoring service through UCSB that taught science lessons to a 1st grade class at La Patera Elementary.

I plan to obtain my masters in education. I love working with students of all ages and am determined to give them the best opportunity possible to succeed academically and (in the future) professionally. I am CPR certified and speak conversational Spanish. I am best contacted through email and phone number and I will respond within 24 hours.

I love working with students of all ages and seeing them succeed academically and socially. I want to be a positive role model in their lives and give them the tools they need to succeed.

    Frequently asked questions

My typical process for working with a new student begins with a conversation with the parents or guardians about their expectations and hopes for their child's academic success. Once I know this, I then meet with the student(s) to discuss their areas of difficulty and develop a plan of action to improve their academics, such as getting a better score on a test or improving their writing skills. With this goal in mind, we can then begin our tutoring sessions to not only improve these scores or skills, but also improve the child’s confidence in themselves.

My pricing system is $20-25 per hour and I will drive to your home for the tutoring session.
