Hello, my name is Cristina. I am fluent in both English and Spanish, but I dedicate much of my time assisting students with the English language. My expertise extends from English essays to creative writing. I currently have my associate's degree in English and are working towards my baccalaureate. I have been writing for seven years and have assisted in tutoring students from secondary level all the way to college level. By the end of my tutoring session I will ensure that my student has a clear, coherent, and well written paper. If they are working on a creative piece I will assist them so that they have all the proper elements in a story: storyline, setting, character development etc. If their work consists of poetry, I will dedicate extra time on the use of symbolism, metaphors, similies etc.
What I enjoy most about what I do is helping students get their thoughts on paper, whether their work is academic or creative. I love to see my students excell and thrive as they use the power of words.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process when working with a new student is first acquiring a sense of what they need assistance with or what they are trying to say. For example, if I am working with a student writing an essay I would first ask what their overall point or argument is in order to understand what they are trying to convey. I would then follow with what they are struggling with and take it from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been writing for several years. I have my English associates and are currently training to receive my baccalaureate.

At the moment I do not have a standard pricing system.
How did you get started teaching?
I have had a passion for English since I was very young. Whe. I was in high school I began tutoring my peers, and assisting them with their academic essays, answering questions and giving them tips in order to enhance their writing.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with Junior High, High School and College level students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One personal event that I am quite fond of is the first time I was ever given the oppertunity to write a creative story. Back then I was only in Junior High and it served as a gateway to my love for the language.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The advice that I would give to any student looking to hire a teacher in what I do is, please make sure that you find someone who is willing to listen attentively to your concerns and questions in order to get the best guidance and assistance. If your tutor is able to listen and understand your needs, then you'll be able to get the help you deserve.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should try and have a clear understanding of what they need assistance with. If they don't yet have a clear understanding of what they would like to convey then I will assist them, that's what I am here for.
