JKA Tutoring
About
Hi, I'm Jules! I've been working as a teacher in middle and high schools for the past four years. I have a credential in English/language arts and have experience assisting in history/social studies classes.
I previously did one-on-one tutoring in high school (for elementary students) and during my undergrad program.
My teaching style focuses heavily on reading, writing, analysis, and essays, so if your student needs assistance with any of those, I can help.
My favorite part of tutoring is getting to make connections with students and focus on skills and parts of texts that may not get too much focus during regular class time. My goal with tutoring is that students feel confident in themselves, their writing, and what they are learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
What types of students have you worked with?
Through tutoring I have worked with students of all ages, grades K-12.
During my student teaching, I worked in middle and high school classrooms. This is where I got to work closely with students developing their English skills (ELD students), and those with IEP and 504 plans. I successfully differentiated lesson plans in order to add supports for these students whilist still challenging their critical thinking skills.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would check out the California English standards, and the ELD standards if those apply, and make sure that the tutor you are looking to hire is teaching to your grade level standards.
