Lessons With Alejandra
About
Hello there learners! I’m Alejandra, or Ale for short. I was born in Bogota, Colombia and moved to the U.S. when I was 5 years old. I have lived most of my life in California but I have also been able to travel and live abroad. Some places I have lived or visited have been Germany, Italy, Spain, the Dominican Republic and Colombia.
I have been teaching ESL and Spanish for 3 years now and I love it! I really enjoy learning from my students and tutoring languages. I help beginner Spanish learners as well as ESL students. I use learner’s every day experiences to help them speak more like a native, in a fun and relaxed way.
My teaching philosophy is to allow my students to be comfortable and less embarrassed or ashamed to speak English/Spanish by giving them a safe space where we have casual conversations and where learning the materials is fun and interesting to each learner.
As an adult learner you have a lot of insecurities which, make students more hesitant to speak and share their ideas. I try to relieve those fears and make each student feel confident in learning at their own pace.
I have experienced teaching adult learners how to reduce their accents and speak English or Spanish more clearly as a native speaker.
I use your every day experiences to help you speak more like a native, in a fun and relaxed way.
This isn’t your typical classroom setting. It’s engaging conversations about whatever topics interests you. So that it will be fun and not something boring that you have to learn. It’s more like “you want to” “quiero” and would love to learn more!
I can’t wait to speak to you and help you improve your language speaking skills. Thank you for stopping by and see you soon!
