Hello, I am an incoming freshman at UC Berkeley, majoring in cognitive science through the pre-med track. Throughout highschool, I gained extensive tutoring experience through leading STEM workshops to several local elementary schools, teaching approximately 60 4th-6th graders subjects catered to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) through interactive and fun lectures. Additionally, I am the founder of the 501(c)(3) Blood Cancer Association where I serve as the Director and a leadership figure to my fellow officer boards and mentees. While I'm an experienced teacher with a graduate degree in education and 5 years of work in the classroom I'm still a fairly young teacher with a lot of energy and the ability to connect well with high school students. I love connecting with kids and building relationships. In my experience if kids like you and know you care about them they will work incredibly hard. Seeing my students transform in the course of a year as a student and as a person is always a great pleasure.

I got my PhD degree in Economics from University of California, Santa Barbara in 2008. After that, I became a faculty member at a top university in China and worked there for 7 years. In 2015, I moved back to the US with my family. I am very interested in teaching and I am also very good at it. I am professional (especially in microeconomics and game theory). I am very patient. I currently attend Northeastern University, and have been working with children for four years. I have been directly involved with teaching kids for three years. I specialize in K-6 math and reading, and I focus on improving motivation and confidence as well as strengthening foundational skills. If kids want to learn, they will pick up concepts quicker, and I achieve this by giving kids levels of agency within the process, e.g. should we learn colors or shapes first today? which helps build ownership in the learning process.
