Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first talk to the student to get to know them. I like to get an understanding of their exisitng knowledge, certain techiniques they know work well for them, or techniques that have not worked for them in the past. If they are unsure about anything, I ask open-ended probing questions to further explore their understanding of both material and their learning style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and served as an academic tutor and teaching assitant for 2 years in college. Through my tutor and teaching assistant training, I learned how to work with many different students with varying levels of needs.
