About
Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Sara. I am a native Spanish speaker originally from Mexico, and passionate about teaching my language. Although I graduated with a degree in design, with the passage of time I discovered that teaching, specially with children, was something that fulfilled me much more. But I can't deny that I still enjoy being in contact with art and creativity both outside and inside the classes.
For the last five years I have been a teacher for children and adults both in private schools and in private classes. In addition, I have an ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) certification issued by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
As a teacher, the main priority will always be to determine the goals and learning style of each of my students. So based on this, together we can focus on a practical methodology that brings them closer to replicating the language in the most real way.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With a new student, I always make sure I get to know their current level, learning style and short-term and long-term goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of the following help make me a qualified Spanish tutor: the fact that I am a native speaker from Mexico, my years of experience as an educator for students of many different ages, and certification as a language teacher from City College of San Francisco.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My normal rate for private online classes is $30/hour, but I offer discounts if students want to buy multiple lessons as a package.
I also work with small groups (2-3 students) and charge $20/hour for each student.
How did you get started teaching?
I started out helping friends who were interested in learning Spanish, and I loved the process of sharing my language so much that I decided to make a career out of it.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have experience working with students of all levels – from elementary school kids with no previous Spanish exposure, to college students in advanced literature courses.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't be afraid to shop around! All students are capable of new language acquisition, but there are tutoring styles that work better for some students than they do for others. Try out a few teachers until you find something that really works.
Once you've found that, be sure to practice. Lessons work best when they are combined with plenty of immersive exposure.
