About
I customize every course according to my student/group needs and work with proven materials and techniques to provide the best learning experience possible.
I am a native Spanish speaker who learned English as a second language (as a child), actively worked on accent reduction to achieve native English speaking fluency, and learned French and Italian as an adult, which has given me the tools and experience to help others persevere and achieve their language goals.
My 15+ years of work experience includes, Broadcasting, Journalism, Translation, Interpreting, Education, and Technology among other fields, allows me to work with students of diverse professional backgrounds looking to succeed in their particular industry by making themselves more marketable by acquiring a language skill.
I enjoy sharing the techniques and materials that have worked for me and others and most importantly I love seeing how proud and confident my students feel when they reach their linguistic milestones. I love choosing to work with people that thrive and want to improve themselves by adding a skillset to their repertoire, it is inspiring and fun. Being able to make my own schedule is priceless!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I determine student's level and goals. I set timelines and goals according to their needs and customize a course for them. Second, I share or recommend the materials needed for the student to use during class and at home. Finally, I monitor milestones and give students the tools to continue learning outside of class.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a Journalism and Political Science Major at San Diego State University, I was required and met the highest level of English and Spanish needed for teaching. While writing for several bilingual publications, I began translating my own articles to reach a wider audience and began my career as a translator and later as an interpreter. My work in Broadcasting and Voice Overs led me to accent reduction techniques for myself, which I now share with my students.

How did you get started teaching?
While working at IDESLI as a Translation Director, I helped recruit and manage translators interpreters and language instructors and realized I had a desire, the right qualifications and disposition to teach. I was given an opportunity and took it. I loved teaching and continued to help develop our Spanish and English curricula for adults as well as Middle School aged children.
What types of students have you worked with?
As a teacher I've had the opportunity of working with students of all types of industries but most notably Tech, Food, Medical, non-profit sector, and local government agencies.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoy and support the live music scene as well as the Arts. Whenever possible I like to alternate my urban walks with rough terrain hikes in the nearby trails outside of the City.
I'm currently painting a few empty canvases and I plan to finish them by the time our current "Shelter in Place" mode is over.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
-Be prepared to make mistakes and learn from them, work hard but also laugh at yourself!
-Be persevering. When we learn phonetics and intonation you may feel silly and uncomfortable trying new sounds but it is all part of the learning process.
-Be consistent with the schedule, it is the key to fast and long lasting results!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What responsibility am I willing to take over the success of my learning process?
What kind of time, resources and effort am I willing to invest to attain my language goals?
How can I ensure continued learning independently and outside of class?
