About

I am professional second language teacher with an M. A. in TESOL, as a native Chinese speaker, I helped children in SF with different proficiency level read, speak, and write better in authentic Chinese for the past two years. I am passionate and dedicated to helping students expand their knowledge and potential. I especially love to teach children and remain sensitive to the unique needs of each tutee and would support them with high-quality instruction in a nurtured, student-centered learning environment where they receive positive encouragement and reinforcement to keep them focused and motivated. The educational working histories in different countries for different aims have prepared me versatile teaching skills and a strong will to help more, serve more. I started work as a teacher since 2013, where I went to Nepal as a volunteer, then I became an ESL teacher in China. In 2015 I work as an au pair and tutored two K-4th graders adopted from China with severe reading difficulties.

The educational working histories in different countries have prepared me with versatile, hands-on teaching skills and strengthened my resolve in being an educator to empower the powerless with language skills. My teaching career started in 2014, where I was fortunate be an ESL teacher in RISE Subject English, a leading childhood language school in China. With ongoing teacher training and classroom practice, I researched, located and implemented a variety of resources to accommodate young learners with visual, audio, tactile and kinesthetic methods, and have built a strong bond with students and their parents. My experience in being an live-in tutor during the Au Pair program in Atlanta, Georgia in 2015 not only deepen my understanding in early childhood development, but also improved my problem-solving and conflict-solving skills towards children with special needs.

What's your purpose in life? For me, I'm a helper, a server. To help and to serve, to empower the powerless, that's what I do. I love it when students shake my hand and say "Thank you, teacher"; I love it when I see students having Ah-ha moment with their eyes light up; I love language and culture, and I especially love sharing my own culutre to the world. One thing special about one-on-one tutor is that student and I build special bond that helps them learn in a relaxed, fun enviornment.
