About
My paid and volunteer experience coaching, teaching and facilitating activities with children 8-11 started when I was 15 years old:
*Big Sister to 4th Grade Black Student from poor section of Yonkers, New York to be her coach and exposure her to community events and learning experiences
*Swim coach at JCC Yonkers location that taught and coached 8–12-year-old to compete in swimming. Imagine motivating a nine year from the edge of swimming pool to swim faster to win their race.
*Tutor and facilitator at Speckles Spanish Emersion Program supporting bilingual elementary students with their homework before school
*One to one tutor to multicultural students who attended Doyle Elementary School, one from Asia that had nonverbal and learning disabilities and Japanese boy who we worked on reading, math and his writing, but more specifically guided him to complete a rocket ship project and brought him to a bookstore to pick out fiction books. Also, taught him to swim, as a result he is pursuing an aerospace career and is in Maryland for one year as part of an international high school program when completed he will get a diploma from the US and Japan. He has Olympic potential as a swimmer.
*Volunteered and was Board member for Fern Street Circus, mentored and invited 8-year-old girls and their moms to home for ice cream party
*Co-coached 40 middle school students in Pickleball at Valley Middle School, employed by Boys and Girls Club of Carlsbad. Starting as beginners, it led to the students participating in tournaments and winning awards for winning against neighborhood schools. So much excitement and pleasure were shown by their parents and friends, several of parents are teachers in the school district. The students and parents would be able to communicate the impact on their social and physical progress and increase confidence as 5–11-year-old, with a 100% safety record.
