Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Education at UT Austin. With a solid academic background, including an M.S. in Child Development from San Diego State University and a B.S. in Cognitive Science from UC San Diego, I bring a unique set of skills and knowledge to the table. My extensive educational journey has equipped me with a deeper insight into fostering better learning experiences for children, while also providing me with the tools to address a diverse range of behavioural challenges.
Throughout my journey as an educator, I have had the privilege of working with students from various educational levels, ranging from K-12 to community colleges and universities. This diverse exposure has honed my ability to cater to the distinct needs and learning styles of each individual. Witnessing learners thrive and succeed in their academic pursuits is what motivates me the most.
Equity in education lies at the core of my philosophy. I am driven by the vision of an educational landscape where all learners have the opportunity to flourish and reach their full potential. As a tutor, I take immense pride in cultivating inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging for every student. With me, you can be assured of an environment where you child’s unique strengths are celebrated and nurtured.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I will just get to know the needs of the student and develop goals that they would like to reach. I like to inquire about what medium helps them learn best and then start by diving into the material slowly and in fun ways.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Both my Bachelors's and Masters's Degrees have prepared me for this experience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My general rate depends on the subject I am teaching but I do discounts for low-income parents. Please feel free to explain your situation and I will find a way to help you and your child out.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching a 10-year-old girl I when I was in high school. Due to extreme poverty, she never learned how to read or write. I decided to teach her English and Math with my mom's help (who is also a Math teacher). That's how my love for teaching began.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have an experience with all types of students from K-12, community college, and university, along with students with learning disabilities. I have even given guest lectures as a Teaching Assistant in university classes.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was working with a 5-year-old diagnosed with ASD and I taught him how to high-five. I still cannot forget the look on his grandparent's faces when he high-fived them for the first time. That feeling is why I like teaching.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would suggest going with someone who you feel safe around and that can make you feel relaxed about learning. We don't want children to be anxious about learning!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should state how they feel and never be afraid to ask a million questions. Personally, I am the kind of student that learns best from raising any questions I have at all times!
