Jordan Altshul Tutoring
About
I want students to fall in love with science. I try to make learning as enjoyable as possible to inspire students to go into science! I also want to inspire young girls to go into the field. I work in research and there is definietly a lack of women. I want to help change that!
I love removing the fear out of learning chemistry and other intimidating sciences. Seeing students grasp different subjects and see that they too can be good at science makes me so happy! I have been tutoring on and off for years and making science fun keeps me coming back.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually look over the new students coursework and ask questions to assess where the student needs help. From there we can really dive deep into the topics they are confused on. I am into helping the student actully learn and understand the material, not just be able to regurgitate the information on a test.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.S. in Neuroscience from UC Santa Cruz. I graduated in 2019 and went straight into research. I currently work at the Salk Institute in La Jolla researching genomics. I have also worked in elementry school classrooms and have tutored for years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing is 40-50$ an hour. The usual session is 1-2 hours, one day a week.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think about what they are really having trouble in. They also should know that no question is a bad question.
