About
Always, I encompass a high level of positivity, determination, and drive in all aspects of work and life. I have created new, innovative ways that promote kindness and engagement through various learning opportunities!
After receiving my Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism & Telecommunications at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School, and obtaining my Master’s Degree Summa Cum Laude in the top 1% of my graduating class in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University, I have been working with students, faculty, and staff to create safe, effective, and educational environments for students of all backgrounds and all learning levels.
As Head Advisor to our 3rd Grade Student Council, I organized events, spirit days, and fundraisers that have included donating water towers to schools in Uganda, raising money for families staying at Ronald McDonald Houses across the country, and sending Valentine’s Day cards to troops overseas. Collectively, our small-town efforts raised over $20,000.00 to help others in need across the globe. Here are the links to the videos I wrote and directed for my student council students:

I look forward to working with you!
I love tutoring! What I enjoy the most is watching as my students take pride in their work and in themselves. Not only does their self-esteem improve, but they are also much happier kiddos!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During the first session, I get to know the student regarding what they like, how they learn best, what they struggle with, and so on. Then, I adjust my lesson plans based on the information I am able to collect. Over time, we build on what we learn and go from simple lessons to more complex projects.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated Summa Cum Laude in the top 1% of my class with a Masters Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University. I'm in my 9th year of teaching, and I have worked with students of varying abiities and ages, from preschool to 7th grade. I've had extensive training in the International Baccalaureate and Kagan programs, and I have created long-lasting leadership programs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depending on what the family is comfortable with, and in accordance with travel, frequency, and subject content, I charge between $50-$75 per one-hour session.
How did you get started teaching?
This is a sweet story...
I circumnavigated the globe for two years. While volunteering on a wildlife refuge on the Greek isle of Paros, I received a call from the director on our satellite phone asking if I would be open to teach Environmental Education to a group of Athenian school children the following week. Having never taught before, I was nervous, however as soon as I saw the kiddos I was filled with great joy. We spent some time building birdhouses and hung them up all over Athens. Even the mayor came by with a news crew to celebrate our achievement. When it was all said and done, all of the students hugged me at the same time, and I knew in that moment I wanted to be a teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of students! While working towards my Masters in Education degree, I completed my Practicum with 1st graders in Phoenix, Arizona. Following, I instructed 2nd graders in Prescott, Arizona for my six-month student teaching experience. Also, I volunteered at a preschool, taught 3rd grade in Wyoming for five years, became the head of our Student Council division, taught ELA and Ancient Civilizations for 6th graders at Walter Colton Middle School, and currently work at Monterey Bay Charter School teaching all subjects for 7th grade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my students had been struggling in school, and so I spent extra time tutoring him so that he could achieve his scholastic goal. At the end of the project, he made a Best Teacher award for me. It brightened my whole day.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise students to look at tutoring as a fun learning opportunity! Truly, it is best they embrace tutoring with an open mind and a positive, can-do attitude.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
To gain independence, students would benefit from not giving up until they are proud, really thinking about the problems in front of them, and applying strong critical-thinking skills to find the solutions they need to succeed.
