English/Writing Tutoring
About
Hello! I am Elizabeth and I am a sophomore at CSU Monterey Bay. Writing is my passion! I love English and all of its inclusive studies. My dream is to become a high school English/Creative Writing teacher. I was a Teachers Assistant all four years of high school at Minarets in O’Neals, California. I am published in two student poetry journals. I am excited to get to know you and help you excel in your language arts!
I enjoy the process of understanding. I grow to understand the student and how they learn, and they grow to understand the content I am teaching them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to plan a “first meeting,” which is when I meet with the student (and their parent, should the situation allow) to get a first impression on both sides. This gives us a chance to understand each other’s goals and create a tutoring plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a second-year Humanities & Communication major at CSU Monterey Bay. I have worked with and been the Teacher’s Assistant of students since my freshman year of high school. These six years give me enough experience to help the students succeed. I have also been published in two poetry journals and on Sierra News Online.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard price is $25 / 30 min. Exceptions and alterations can be made based on the student’s needs.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring as a Teacher’s Assistant in my freshman year of high school. This was for English, AP English, and Creative Writing
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with high school students of all levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I am fond of was my old high school Creative Writing teacher I used to assist emailing me. He attached one of my short stories I had written back in his class, requesting to use it as an example. This made me proud and confident in my ability to help students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice is to choose someone the student is comfortable with. A tutor’s college degrees do not guarantee a student’s success, the student’s newfound comprehension of the material and their self-application does. This can only be brought out by a tutor that relates to the student and can inspire them. I am that tutor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should make sure they know what they are asking. If they do not, they should let the tutor know so they can assist them further. The key is mutual understanding.
