About
I love working with ESL students! I have been teaching and tutoring in ESL for over 27 years, both here in the U.S. and overseas. As for education, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Inter-Cultural Relations, a California Teaching credential for English with a Supplement in TESOL, and a Master’s degree in TESOL. I have taught beginning to advanced students in all ESL subjects such as Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Pronunciation, and Grammar from high school to adult and especially college levels. I have also done quite a bit of tutoring of both native and non-native English-speakers in Writing and Grammar. Finally, I am experienced in using Zoom for teaching.
I enjoy getting to know every person individually and helping them advance in their English ability in order to succeed in their goals. I love seeing a student finally understand something and be able to use it effectively. The “ah-ha!” and the smile on his or her face is worth it all!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always talk with students to get to know them a little bit first. Then I find out what they want to work on and propose a program that will fit their goals. For example, if they want to work on writing, I give them a topic to write on for the next session so I can see any weaknesses or areas they need work. Then we talk about their mistakes and possible ways to correct them, including more accurate vocabulary. Lastly, I ask them if our session has been helpful, and recommend the area for us to focus on the next time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Intercultural Relations and a CA Teaching Credential for grades K - 12. I also have a Master's degree in Teaching ESL.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I offer a free consultation, and then each one hour lesson after that is $30.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have over 27 years of teaching experience, including junior high, high school, college, and adult, with additional experience teaching English overseas. I have tutored students from grades K - 12 in numerous subjects, and I am currently home schooling my own children in 1st - 12th grades. I have recently tutored students from elementary to adult.
