Hello! I have a BS in Biology with a Biomedical Concentration; during which I gained knowledge and experience in everything from foundational biological concepts to chemistry, anatomy, physiology, genetics, microbiology, cellular biology, mycology, zoology, plant taxonomy, ecology, evolution, comparative vertebrate morphology, and much more. I love all aspects of biology and it is my passion as well as my degree, as one can see by looking at all the biology I have going in my home; including plants and animals amid other things. I love not only helping people learn facts, but showing them the wonder that is Biology; it is much easier to learn facts when they are presented in an engaging way, and I want to foster a lifelong interest in biological concepts that will last long beyond the class! At this point in time, I am offering all tutoring services online only.
I love refreshing my knowledge on concepts and helping other people have that breakthrough moment of understanding something that they were struggling with!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I start with a new student I like to spend a few minutes getting to know them, and then going over the foundations for the class that they are working on, before getting to their specific questions; as helping them figure out if they have a handle on the foundational concepts and helping them fill in any gaps can often organically fill in some of the specific questions that they have.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in Biology with a Biomedical Concentration.

I charge $25/h.
How did you get started teaching?
I started by tutoring ASL in my community college, which gave me the passion to help students; and after that I continued to tutor students in Biology who reached out to me needing help.

I have helped students of high school and college level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
It makes me happy when students come to the point of enjoying a topic that they came to me disliking.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Within Biology there are many different subjects; many people specialize in some of the areas, so look for one which has interest and experience in the area that you need help with!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If you have a specific question such as on a homework assignment, try to evaluate your knowledge base and come with not only the question, but with other questions that will fill in the gaps that led to you not understanding the question.
