About
Hi, I’m Michelle Colletto and I am passionate about teaching! I love helping students improve their grades. I have been teaching English Language Arts, French, Spanish, debate/speech, drama, reading, writing, and literature for 34 years. I have two Masters degrees: one in English (High School) and one in Instruction, Curriculum, and Technology. I also hold a California Single Subject Credential (6th-12 grade) in English. In addition, I am an Orton-Gillingham certified reading teacher. If you’re struggling, or just want an overall improvement, give me a call, I can help!
I love to get students excited about learning! Seeing students do well and gain confidence with their learning skills, brings me so much joy!
I also love teaching French and Spanish. As a student of both languages, I understand the challenges and how to teach strategies to not only make it easier to learn the language, but also more fun! I started learning French when I was 11 years old and living abroad with my parents. I did my undergraduate studies in Paris, where I lived for 10 years. I later married a Spanish diplomat and had to learn Spanish to help represent Spain abroad. I did this for 22 years. Learning a new language helps us learn more about our own language (and ourselves) which in turn helps us express ourselves better and augments our thinking. It also exposes us to other cultures, enriching our lives, and broadening our abilities, as well as opening up more opportunities in the international job market. My emphasis from day one is speaking first. I work with drawings, films/videos, and other authentic resources to catapult you forward, even if you have never spoken the language before.
