Frances McCann
About
As a candidate for a reading and writing tutor position for K-12 students, I bring a strong educational background and diverse teaching experience. With a BA in English from Louisiana State University, and an in-progress MFA degree in creative writing at the University of California, Riverside, I possess the skills and knowledge to support students' literacy development. My experience as editor-in-chief of a LSU's Delta Literary Journal has honed my attention to detail and editing abilities. My experience working at the Delta has taught me how to effectively communicate and work with people who have limited experience in writing, guiding them in a constructive manner to improve their work. Moreover, my one year of experience teaching college students creative writing and poetry, as well as my experience teaching drama, acting, and speechwriting to 6th-12th graders, has allowed me to develop engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles. With a passion for literature, writing, and teaching, I am excited about the prospect of supporting K-12 students' academic growth and development.
