About
Greetings my name is Jenn and I am happy to introduce myself to this new platform.
I specialize in effective communcation of all sorts: verbal, written, body language primarily directed toward special academic and business projects for presentaitons.
This would include the art aspect of the project:
(Book/History/Poetry/Literature/Character)
Product Reviews
Research Papers
Science Projects
Other Special Projects
I assist with the ENTIRE process of research:
Resource selection/Bibliography
Outline/notes
Write up
What Audio/Visual tools are best
Time Frames/Special Considerations
(according to rubrics and deadlines)
I focus on the ENTIRE well-being of academic life in addition to the subject of concern:
Proper diet and sleep
Organization of personal space as well as attitude
I assess to determine learning preferences, temperament and personality to assist my students in knowing themselves so that they can focus on their strengths (which will automatically shorten the gap of weakness)
I insist on goal setting and achieving from a non-directive approach in which the students formulate the possible ideas for solutions and then makes a definiative decision on which one would be best for them.
I encourage self-sufficiency in which they can master the skills with my tools and strategies for them to confidently walk their own paths of interest.
I encourage independent and critical thinking and how to ask good questions to lead them to discover the answers for themselves.
I believe in authenticity in being honest with my capabilities and what is best for my students: and sometimes that means saying no to people who request my services.
I am not for everyone, and I'm VERY selective on whom I choose to coach academically as there is a rigourous application process for those whom I work with as I take EXTREME CARE to ensure those that I work with have the aptitude and the attitude (dedication & commitment to do their part), and I also take invetory of my skills to ensure that I have the proper resources to not only deliver, but to exceed the expectations of the students that I coach.
My target audience is ages 10-30 yrs old
I have always had a passion for teaching and helping young people achieve their academic and life goals to jumpstart them into their dreams.
I aim to make their wildest dreams possible by helping them create action steps to making them a reality
As a former classroom teacher I saw there was a tremendous gap in life skills, general health, discipline and overall organization of the students who walked through my classroom and how parents didn't have the time, and the increasing administrative load (along with classroom time raped by: meetings, assemblies etc) being put on teachers often leaves classroom teachers hardly able to teach the content. I seek to bridge this gap between school and home and then school to career.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first have them complete an intake packet to get to know the students preferences, persoanlity, challenges, goals, dreams, strengths and expectations (both of themselves and me).
I determine, from the intake packet, if it's a good fit to work together, based on preferences and expectations and whether or not I am the best person to meet and exceed them.
I work on an upfront automatic monthly payment basis so that I can BETTER focus on helping my students as opposed to wasting time on unnecessary paperwork.
Once the first payment is received I begin the process of organizing from an "inside-out" approach so as to co-create with the student new habits to replace bad one's. This simply MUST be a part of the regimen lest all of the academics taught not be retained long term (from a lack of discipline).
I provide a steady stream of tools and stragegies to be successful by way of: book recommendations, handy worksheets, access to exclusive content (for my students only) to name a few.
I have the HIGHEST expectations for my students, though not impossible. If they have been accepted, then it is DEFINITELY possible for him/her to acheive.
I practice what I preach by walking my talk, that is leading by example. I don't EVER ask my students to do ANYTHING that I have not done first.
I don't ever expect my students to be perfect, I am not perfect, but I DO expect them to strive to be the BEST version of themselves and getting better daily.
I have them set goals, and possible solutions and then create action steps to acheive them. I am with them all the way co-creating with them. (For Life AND Academics/Professional).
For core subject content, I address all the of the concerns first and then I use a: Teach, hold, release method in which I teach the material step by step, then they do it themselves with me correcting the errors and then eventually on their own (sometimes with a little push).
I assist them on their work and supplement the organizational life skills and academic tools to fill in the gaps as needed according to the needs of the student to meet and exceed the school/professional obligations.

FYI: I do NOT discount my prices or EVER do "pro bono" sessions as my time is valuable and I have learned the hard way that if there is no "skin the game" students don't take their commitments seriously and I simply cannot and will not have my time wasted, nor could I in conscience permit you to waste yours or your child's time in missed appointments etc. when they could easily be getting the help they require as when the matter is taken seriously by properly investing in yourself/your child.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always wanted to teach.
I joined the military to get money for college and I began taking classes as soon as I arrived to my first duty station (1992)
I was required to teach many classes in the military for training on specific techniques and procedures all throughout my career.
I began student teaching in 1998 and had my first classroom in 2001.
I taught continusly in the classroom through 2010 and then again in 2015-2016 and then I home schooled a family of 3 the following year on all subjects.
I am a life long learner and I am always keeping abreast of knowledge to help my students strengthen thier strongest points.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've taught all ages from primary through jr high, with middle elementary the longest.
After coming out of the classroom, I began consulting college and high school students with their research reports.
I now also teach English to students in Beijing, China.
I have been consulting on a "word of mouth" only basis as I have been quite busy, I'm more available to accept a select up to 6 students to work with on a regular basis.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Getting my official certification for life coaching so that I can BETTER assist my students with their goals.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Consider the tremendous VALUE and ALL that is INCLUDED when you INVEST in your child or yourself.
That old saying "You get what you pay for" stands true, and I would go further to say that you "Don't get what you DON'T invest in".
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Has what you were doing previously gotten the results that you are seeking?
Are you committed 100% to doing your work and contributing to your success?
Do you take accountability for your own actions? Or do you blame others?
What are you getting in life from being where you are now?
What are you goals? Be specific.
