About

Hello! My name is Kirsten, and I have recently graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A in psychology. Before college, I attended a college preparatory high school, graduating summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. I began tutoring children in middle school and have continued until my third year of college. During that time, I worked with many kids, ranging from kindergarten to high school seniors. I have taught various math subjects, such as basic arithmetic, algebra, physics, and statistics, to name a few. I have also been known for my ability to provide constructive criticism and helpful feedback on papers and essays, taking the time to walk through every comment that was made. I go above and beyond, providing practice exams and study guides custom-made for each student, highlighting the areas in which they need to improve the most.

If you have any other questions about teaching styles, practice materials, or future inquiries, please contact me at any time! Thank you very much!

Kirsten has been a blessing since I found her I’m very thankful. She is a great tutor she is patience with students and takes the time to explain the material, very professional and reliable too. My high school student was struggling a lot on math now she is doing very good in math she is more happy, confident, and eager to do her best everyday because she is understanding better her subjects and her grades went up from F’s and D’s to A’s is amazing how everything has changed for her because Kirsten is really good at explaining and teaching. Best tutor ever!! Thank you!!!

I have sought assistance from many writing and English tutors in the past, but Kirsten has been the best I’ve ever had. She thoroughly looks over every part of my essays and gives suggestions on how to make my writing clearer and flow better; she never forces me to oblige by her corrections. Above all, she believes that someone’s essay/paper/etc should be as unique to the writer as possible, and this philosophy is clearly evident in her teaching style. Even so, her keen analyses catches any and all grammatical mistakes I make, giving me the chance to correct them and securing me an A on all my papers. There is no one I’d give a higher recommendation to, and I will definitely be using her expertise again in the future.

    Frequently asked questions

When working with new students, I usually start with a few ice breakers. I ask them simple questions like what's their favorite color, what movies and shows they are currently watching, or what music they listen too. I do this because I want to create a connection and bond with my student. After all, they are more susceptible to learning when it's coming from someone they are more comfortable with rather than a stranger.

Next, I would ask them what type of method they learn best in (visual with drawings, auditory with a lot of explaining, etc.), and if they are unsure, then it will take some trial and error to find the best method.

From there, I would ask them to explain to me what they learned in school and take roughly 5-10 minutes, answering questions, and having them attempt at a couple of problems before going over them together.

I have been tutoring and helping students with schoolwork for since I was in middle school, dealing with kids from the ages of 5-16. I also do a lot of community service and participate in various leadership roles that allow me to strengthen my communication, team building, and people skills.

I charge $20/hr though I am willing to negotiate based on personal circumstances. Due to being a full-time college student, I do CHARGE FOR OVERTIME which is $5 for every 30 minutes passed the set ending time. I do this because although my time is valuable for my personal education, I understand the importance of asking questions and fully understanding concepts so I want students and parents to feel comfortable enough to tie the loose ends of the lesson without worrying too heavily on spending more money than necessary.
