About
Hello! My name is Kirsten, and I have recently graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A in psychology. Before college, I attended a college preparatory high school, graduating summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. I began tutoring children in middle school and have continued until my third year of college. During that time, I worked with many kids, ranging from kindergarten to high school seniors. I have taught various math subjects, such as basic arithmetic, algebra, physics, and statistics, to name a few. I have also been known for my ability to provide constructive criticism and helpful feedback on papers and essays, taking the time to walk through every comment that was made. I go above and beyond, providing practice exams and study guides custom-made for each student, highlighting the areas in which they need to improve the most.
If you have any other questions about teaching styles, practice materials, or future inquiries, please contact me at any time! Thank you very much!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with new students, I usually start with a few ice breakers. I ask them simple questions like what's their favorite color, what movies and shows they are currently watching, or what music they listen too. I do this because I want to create a connection and bond with my student. After all, they are more susceptible to learning when it's coming from someone they are more comfortable with rather than a stranger.
Next, I would ask them what type of method they learn best in (visual with drawings, auditory with a lot of explaining, etc.), and if they are unsure, then it will take some trial and error to find the best method.
From there, I would ask them to explain to me what they learned in school and take roughly 5-10 minutes, answering questions, and having them attempt at a couple of problems before going over them together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring and helping students with schoolwork for since I was in middle school, dealing with kids from the ages of 5-16. I also do a lot of community service and participate in various leadership roles that allow me to strengthen my communication, team building, and people skills.
