Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Teaching has been my longest profession. I began as a math tutor in middle school; in high school I continued tutoring math and also expanded to tutoring science, history, and writing; I also became a “Teen Trend Setter” in high school, teaching elementary school students how to read; throughout my higher education I have served as a teacher through various official and unofficial roles, including serving as a teaching assistant for eight courses (including biochemistry, biophysical thermodynamics, general chemistry, and chemistry lab) and performing chemistry demonstrations for elementary, middle, and high school students. At Caltech I received an outstanding TA award for my work as the biochemistry head TA.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
At this time (2022), my limiting resource is time so I am looking to exclusively take on one student this year to mentor and teach bio/chemistry virtually through Zoom at a price point of $100/hour and a meeting schedule of 1-2 hours a week. If my rates are too high for your current budget, please don’t hesitate to choose another tutor. But if you have capacity, I look forward to not only teaching you but mentoring you and helping you get started in a potential career in STEM. Although I am an equal opportunity tutor, I would love to give my time to underserved communities when possible. Thank you and best of luck in your STEM education!
