About

As a tutor, I give curriculum materials that support the child's needs, but also help them to advance in school by aligning to the school's challenging material or supporting the level of struggle that some grade levels carry in Common Core subjects. I tutor to support students in the long-term growth, not for short-term learning .

I work to help students see progress in all their hard work practiced & expressed over time. In my sessions, learning is structured through consistency and focus on needed areas/ subjects over time, since growth develops from skills reviewed and mastered in each student's pace.

I also give positive encouragement for greater potential, as positive outlook helps students display confidence, and sparks motivation.

For materials, I love to help students see school as engaging by using materials that help them develop interest in school subjects. My materials consist of both worksheet based, and hands-on tools that help them to interact, builds on their needed skills, but engages them in a helpful way for self-discipline and personal growth.

For general education students, they find learning easier when it is familiar, consistent, and keeps them interested. Most of my students speak English fluently, and benefit greater when they are on task, focused, and willing.

For special needs & neurodivergent students, I am Orton-Gillingham trained for Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia for K-12 students, the standard for instruction with students who may have challenging learning abilities.

I am also able to instruct adults in reading/ spelling for those who have needs with Dyslexia. I usually use Orton-Gillingham (the gold standard) for adults to meet your struggles and fill gaps that have not previously been met yet.

Feel free to message me for any inquiries or to schedule a consultation to discuss how I can best meet your child's needs or your adult needs.

    Frequently asked questions

Usually I prefer to give curriculum materials supplied by me.

I talk to the parent during first meeting to discuss on what academic areas are needed for academic support & how to maintain skills for school.

The student simply needs basic school supply materials: pencils, erasers, crayons, scissors, glue sticks.
Also, a quiet, non distracting area is a great place for the student to work at during sessions.

Afterwards, when both student & parent are ready, we will schedule sessions to begin.

Look for a tutor that you need for success, but also what can challenge you to go beyond your limits, to excel in school comfortably, especially when working w/ Common Core subjects.

What are the needs & expectations we will need to be successful for school? Will we benefit in intervention for school instruction? What are challenges we will face? How long will progress take to see long term growth that will stay?
