Michael Fang

Hi, I’m Michael! I’m an incoming freshman at Princeton, most likely majoring in physics or CS. I graduated top of my class in high school, taking the hardest courses available including AP Physics C, AP English Language, and AP Calculus BC (in sophomore year) with a 4.00 UW GPA. I’ve also gone through the often intimidating processes of Standardized test prep, competitions, and the college application crucible. While I emerged with a 1580 SAT, twelve AP5s, a USA Physics Olympiad bronze medal, and the opportunity to attend my dream school, the road to get there was not easy in the slightest.

Looking back, there are a lot of things I wish I knew going through all these experiences. A little advice on how to structure essays in AP Lang, or how to effectively study for physics could have saved me so much effort and grief. I want to give my knowledge to the next generation of students, so that they can succeed without the stress and uncertainty of going in alone.

Over the last four years, I have tutored students of all ages for over 300 hours, mainly in one-on-one formats. I spent my freshman and sophomore summers working with cohorts of 7th and 8th graders, teaching math and introductory physics. Beyond group settings, I have tutored students one-on-one in everything from pre-algebra to USA Physics Olympiad prep (quantum/calculus-based physics) and college application crafting. I try to keep lessons interesting and lighthearted because the last thing students need is more stress, and I do my best to connect with students and get to know them.

I offer tutoring (in-person and online) in any school subjects, test prep, paper/essay writing, and consulting for high school and college plans.
