About
• I am a Stanford 4th-year undergraduate who has tutored for 4 years in elementary school, high school, and college-level writing for academic and professional settings, from research essays to personal statements.
• I was in the top 5% of my high school class and received the QuestBridge College Prep Scholars nomination for low-income and high-achieving high-school students, which reflected my grades, SAT score, extracurriculars, and essays. I won a $20,000 essay contest scholarship from Future of School to help pay my college tuition. I maintain a 4.11 GPA at Stanford.
• I have over 650 hours of teaching and tutoring experience, with over 350 hours of 1-on-1 in-person writing tutoring experience and 100 hours of 1-on-1 virtual tutoring experience.
• I took a 10-week writing tutoring seminar where I was trained in guiding students through the brainstorming and researching to outlining, drafting, and polishing phases of writing.
• I have worked a selective position as a Peer Writing Tutor at Stanford’s Hume Center for Speaking and Writing for 2+ years, meeting 1-on-1 with 10 to 20 students per week to work on projects at any stage of the writing process. I have worked with a wide range of students, from first year undergraduates writing their first college paper to 3rd year PhD students applying to fellowships. I have developed an adaptable tutoring pedagogy that allows me to identify the diverse needs of my tutees and assist them with any assignment or genre of writing.
• I have over 100 hours of 1-on-1 tutoring experience in high-school English, working for a year with a high-school student and helping improve his essay grades from Bs to As. I am committed to building relationships with my tutees, tailoring lessons to their particular learning styles and making meetings both productive and enjoyable.
• I have mentored 4 high school students in writing their college essays for the QuestBridge Scholarship Program, who later were admitted to USC, Columbia, UC Berkeley, etc.
• I have 50+ hours of experience tutoring adults in English as a Second Language, attending a 10-week training seminar to learn how to design effective materials tailored to learners’ interests and needs.
• I personally love writing, particularly policy writing, and will attend law school after my undergraduate degree. In my free time, I like to run, paint, and play the piano. I enjoy working with students to flesh out their ideas and find their voices as writers. I'm excited to work with your student to meet their unique needs and goals!
