About
As a tutor, my aim is to do everything I can to help my students achieve their goals, and I take a personal interest in each of my students. I find out your interests and goals and personalize each lesson to match your learning style and needs. My past students have said that I am patient, enthusiastic, skilled, dedicated, “a great teacher” and “a gifted educator.”
I am trained and experienced in tutoring and teaching English, ESL, Language Arts, Spanish and test preparation. I have been an educator for the past twelve years. Please read below under My Skills, Experience and Educational Background for more information.
The most satisfying aspect of my work is helping my students overcome their challenges and go on to achieve mastery of their subject. I enjoy helping students learn to express themselves more clearly and compellingly in writing and speaking. I also love helping students to gain full understanding of what they read, whether it be fiction, plays, poetry or nonfiction. Finally, as a tutor, I am excited to lead students toward a love of the English and Spanish languages, two of the most beautiful languages on earth.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I offer a free in-person or online consultation so that the student (and parents) and I can meet. This gives everyone a chance to ask questions before starting lessons. During this session, I informally evaluate the student’s needs and we set preliminary goals. If applicable, I also review the student’s academic work. Some of this process can also be done over the phone or by email if preferred.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Anthropology from Tufts University. I completed advanced studies in India and Nepal with School for International Training. I also hold a BFA. I completed advanced Spanish studies at Academia Latinoamericana de Español in Ecuador. I received my Cambridge CELTA English as a Second Language teaching certification at St. Giles International. I trained and worked as an English/Language Arts educator with Americorps, in the public school system, and with educational nonprofit organizations. I founded Cosmos Learning, a private tutoring agency, in 2012, and have been a private tutor since then.
