Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would ask a student which areas he or she would like to improve in and if they have any ideas on how they can work on those areas. I want my students to know that they are responsible for their success, so it is important to me to get their input first before I suggest how I can help them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
English, B.A., University of California, Irvine
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is based on your grade level, which course you are taking, how long I will need to prepare for your sessions and if I will need to provide you with supplemental materials (i.e. textbooks).
How did you get started teaching?
In my junior year of university, I volunteered as a teacher's aide under PACE (Planning Academic Collegiate Excellence) at The Cambodian Family, a non-profit organization in Santa Ana, CA.
What types of students have you worked with?
Pre-K to Collegiate
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Know your strengths and your weaknesses. It's important to be able to understand the areas that you need extra help in and the earlier, the better.
