Hi! I’m Alister, an engineering student at Stanford University. I tutor math (grade K-12), physics & chemistry (high school), and language arts (grade K-8). I have four years of experience and love working with students to solidify understanding—once students truly grasp concepts, I find they start to really enjoy the subject. My tutoring style is flexible based on the students’ need.

I am a current student at De Anza College, working toward transferring to the University of California. As someone actively learning and studying, I understand the challenges students face and can explain concepts in a clear and relatable way. I'm a MIT and University of Chicago graduate. I have years of tutoring experience, working for big names like Kaplan and NEXT. I have helped dozens of students with the SAT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, English and general math skills. I also help improve writing skills. My students have gone to top schools.

My specialty is working with students who think math is some mysterious entity that they can never 'get'. I love the moment when it clicks for them and they realize that they CAN be successful in math. I started teaching high school math in 1971 and retired in 2013. Now I enjoy working with 3 or 4 students who really want to conquer their math anxiety.
