What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I have a conversation with them about their likes and dislikes, discover common ground. Second, I ask to see a copy of their past work, a writing sample, essay or creative story. Finally, I'll ask them to read it to me. This will allow me to see a base for where their writing and reading. Once I understand a bit about them and their needs, I'm able to work personally with them to develop the needed skills.
