About
We are dedicated to ensuring all students meet not only academic goals, but behavior goals as well. Not every student learns the same, so it is important to us that we tailor each lesson to each individual. As a tutor, I strongly believe that in order to achieve academic goals, we have to work with behavior goals as well. Behaviors such as staying focused, listening, paying attention to detail, and so on are behaviors that impact academics. While working with a student I ensure to touch all of those basis to achieve academic success.
I have been tutoring Math and English for over 10 years, from elementary to highschool students. I have been able to help students reach new heights that they never knew existed. As a result from working closely with my students, they have achieved success in academics, behavior, and socially. Those who struggled with reading are now reading at their grade level or beyond, some are on honor roll, and some are advanced in math and English. I pride myself in ensuring the students I work with reach every goal attainable.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process of working with a student is to first assess their needs. During the first session I identify their strengths and weakness. Once I have identified them, I devise a lesson plan to build off their strengths and advance their weaknesses. I take my time with students and never rush them to meet a goal. I brush up on core values to ensure the students know their basic fundamentals. Once my students know their basics, we can then go into the subject at hand. I create worksheets, activities, and lessons just for that student. Throughout our lessons, I typically quiz them on what was learned in prior lessons to ensure that they are still on track. At the end of the subject matter, I give my students a mini test to assess their strengths and weaknesses, to compare them to the beginning of the sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. in Psychology from Humboldt State University. While in school I tutored local students in the area. While I was in High school, I tutored local kids in my neighborhood.
How did you get started teaching?
In highschool with my peers and local neighborhood students. I just wanted my peers to attain the same academic success that I have achieved.
What types of students have you worked with?
A wide range population. I have worked with students who are academically proficient, with academic struggles, behind in grade levels, on the spectrum, and many more.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
To always remain focused, no matter how tough it gets. Keep your eyes on the goal you set for yourself. If you remain focused, you will attain your goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should feel comfortable asking any question they need to, as long as it pertains to the subject at hand.
