Hi! I'm a college-level English and Philosophy tutor with over two years of experience helping students think critically, write powerfully, and engage deeply with complex material. My ability for critical thinking and technical analysis was first refined in my work as a meteorologist for the US military— since my introduction to academia I’ve written more than 15 advanced essays across philosophy, psychology, and literature, and I'm currently working on an interdisciplinary book that bridges philosophy, psychology, and neuroscience.

Great way of teaching, very casual but also stern when need be. Though out the lesson we would get into very intellectual conversation but never felt like a tangent. Thank you elliott!

Working with Elliott completely changed how I approach writing. I used to just try to sound smart, but he showed me how to actually think through what I’m saying and make it mean something. He’s incredibly sharp, but also down-to-earth and easy to talk to. We worked on a philosophy paper I was totally stuck on, and he helped me reshape the whole argument while keeping my voice. By working on the philosophy paper he also co-taught me English essentials such as rhetoric and prose. I walked away not just with a better paper—but with a better way of thinking. Don’t hesitate to book a session with him. My only critique is that sometimes he knows so much about a topic that he will begin explaining in highly technical language so in the beginning we would have to work downward so he can meet me at my level and then we can move forward, but I believe this bottom-up approach was really helpful and I appreciate he gave me the respect of not speaking to me as if I was a 5 year old.

He was extremely thoughtful in helping me curate a structured approach to essay writing.
