I have extensive tutoring experience both privately and at Pasadena City College in the past. I have a Master's degree and am a published author. I love tutoring and tailor sessions to my students.
I enjoy seeing people grow and improve. I believe tutoring starts with building on existing strengths and I care about your progress.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin with an informal writing assessment (or have a child tell me a story which I write down if the child cannot yet write) to get a sense of strengths and areas of improvement. It also sets the stage that writing can be fun. I then help people work on assignments, projects, etc in a tailored way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up with a mother who was a teacher and tutor and developed my skills with her and then had my own tutoring business from there.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Sessions are generally 90 minutes for ages 9 and up, with a short break to stretch and walk around. Children younger are generally an hour, also with a short break. The 90 minute sessions allow us to really focus on writing, and to keep it less rushed for students who dislike writing and need support around it. I especially enjoy helping to reduce writing anxiety or learning disability related stress.
What types of students have you worked with?
Preschoolers through college and beyond.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Trust your gut. It's your educational experience, and you have the right to ask questions or to change tutors. Seeking tutoring matters and means you value yourself and your skills. Also, remember that tutoring is a skill and an art. Trust yourself and the process. Good tutors want to help you beyond the assignment or school year by helping you grow skills you can use again and again.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why do you tutor? What's the best part? What challenges and strengths do you see students having? How do you help students?
