Emma’s A+ Tutoring
About
Hello! My name is Emma and I am excited to help you learn! I have years and years of experience in education, from tutoring elementary school youngsters to instructing college students. I have a BA in psychology, an MA in quantitative methods, and four years of a PhD in criminology. I am an enthusiastic teacher and my knowledge base spans the humanities, social sciences, and quantitative subjects. I am skilled at helping students improve their writing and critical thinking and am adept at tailoring my style to individual needs. Please let me know what I can do for you! :)
I enjoy learning more than anything, and encouring others to do so is gratifying. Helping a young student to understand and engage with material enables them to participate more fully in the world. I love seeing a student grow and understand work that has previously caused frustration or distress.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I meet with students and get to know their individual talents and needs. We discuss a plan for their future success and growth together and develop a timeline and benchmarks for optimal achievement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 11 years of post-secondary education, including 5 years as a teaching assistant and instructor at the University of California, Irvine. In this capacity, I taught students, led lectures and discussions, worked individually with students on assignments, and attended to personal learning styles. Prior to my role as an educator, I tutored elementary school children on math, English, and science homework after school.
