Comp Sci & Math Tutoring
About
I was the Valedictorian of my high school graduating class, and got my BS in Computer Science at UCLA. I have 3+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer. In the office, I often took on the responsibility of getting interns up to speed, or helping a peer with a programming problem.
Now that I am no longer in school myself— and am taking a hiatus from the corporate world— I enjoy using my experience to help others achieve their own goals.
Subjects like math and computer programming always came especially easily to me. I appreciate the straightforwardness of such disciplines, and hope to inspire my pupils to appreciate the same.
I personally learn best visually and through doing, and tend to take this approach when teaching others. Practice problems, and examining a variety of approaches for the same problem are tools which I rely on heavily in my work as a programmer, and as a tutor.
Whichever the subject, my goal is to guide my students towards the right answer, equipping them with the skillsets and confidence to master the subject matter on their own.
I feel happy when I can put my skills to good use, while improving the quality of another person’s life in the process. One thing I realized when I worked in an office (and after going through a year of quarantine) is that I really enjoy working with people— and I miss it.
I enjoy tutoring because I genuinely think I am a good fit for the job. I am an effective communicator, with a keen attention to detail. I am patient, calm and deliberate with my words and actions. I am open-minded and enjoy meeting people from different walks of life.
I believe these qualities make me a natural, thorough tutor with pupils of all ages. They also make the experience of helping someone else all the more fulfilling and gratifying for me.
